It's coming up on "that time of the year," gift giving time! If you've got a few horsey people on your list you might want to check the Whoa Horse Artists Group on Etsy. In case you haven't been there, Etsy is an online marketplace where artists and craftspeople can sell their handmade goods. I LOVE this site, you can find a little bit of everything there and the best part is you deal directly with the maker. I don't know about you, but I love to support starving artists. In fact, even Natalie from The Un-Retired Racehorse sells hand painted ornaments on Etsy (sorry Natalie, I lost the link to your shop).
Here are just a few pieces that caught my eye- I could never put up everything I like or this post would never end. The captions are links to the sale page for each item.
An awesome sculpture that I could never afford:
An incredible commissioned sculpture |
Adorable earrings:
I own a pair of these |
This is an interesting perspective |
This photo has a great mood |
You name it, Etsy has it. If you're trying to find gifts for the horseperson who has everything, give it a try, but don't be surprised if you find yourself doing a little shopping for yourself :-)
Wow-- looks like there are a boat load of REALLY talented horse folks out there!!!
ReplyDeleteThose earrings are too cool!
And that watercolor... *sigh* Beautiful!
*sigh* I'm going to turn into an interwebz winda shopping junkie if I'm not careful! ;)
I feel like the dark side of the force right now- shop online, Mrs Mom, it's your destiny...
ReplyDeleteI just discovered Etsy and LOVE it! I agree with you about supporting small business and starving artists. I am anxiously awaiting some jewelry I ordered. I can see myself spending a lot of time and money on this site. :-)
ReplyDeleteOoh, Wolfie, I hope they arrive quickly. They should, the vast majority of people selling there are really good about that.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to do a post about things I want and things I recommend for the holidays. I guess we're counting down the shopping days now!
I don't wear earrings, but I LOVE that pair. Those would be so cool for a horse lover.
Love the black and white photo as well. I have a picture of a mare I rode for awhile that is from almost exactly the same angle. And lots of tall grass and big Kansas sky in the background. Seeing that photo brought back some memories. :)
Mary
Looks like Etsy has come a long way since its early days. That's cool.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I can vouch that those earrings are very comfortable to wear, some metals irritate my ears but those don't. They are also very light.
ReplyDeleteHi MiKael, I don't know how Etsy was in the beginning, but the only downfall of the site that I've seen is that there's just so much available that it takes forever to look through it.
