Equine Affaire

That's where I'm heading this Thursday!

It's going to be a long drive to Ohio but it will be worth it when I get to see Mark Rashid and Jim Masterson in person. I'm also planning on attending a Mark Bolender clinic on trail riding, an Alan Hamilton lecture or two on horse neurology and a Jeff Wilson clinic on western dressage. I'm also going to say hi to Heath at No Thrush and let Carole know how much I absolutely adore my Ansur Crossover.

I also promised my clients I would go to a Linda Parelli lecture with an open mind. I figure one of the "horsonality" lectures should be entertaining at least.

If you're going and you want to say hi, I have a very unique white streak in my hair above my left ear. If my hair is in a ponytail you can't miss it. I'll warn you right now, though, I'm weird and awkward in person.

This video is completely unrelated to Equine Affaire, but it cracked me up so I had to share:

  1. I'm going Thursday, too! I am so excited!! I will be on the lookout for you, probably making a fool of myself asking "Are you the lady who writes It's Quarters for me?" "No" "Okay, moving on. . ." As for me, I always where my hair in a pony tail.

I might see you at the Mark Bolender clinic on trail riding, I think he is doing a ground and a mounted one and I want to attend both. There is so much I want to do, so little time!

Haha! Don't worry, I am weird and awkward, too. Have a great time!

  2. I'll be at the mounted clinic, or at least the beginning. I wish his sessions weren't overlapping with Mark Rashid's.

Definitely say hi if you see me, I'll do my best to look pleasant and approachable so I don't scare you off...

  3. I'm so jealous! Nothing cool ever comes anywhere near us! Can't wait to hear the report when you get back. Oh, and we're horse people who play on the computer...I'm wondering if any of us are NOT weird and awkward! lol

    1. Well I wasn't going to say that, but since you did I'm just going to agree ;)

  4. Ooooo, Mark Rashid and Jim Masterson--fun! I've been watching the Masterson Method DVD and tried a few of his techniques on Salem last night--and was totally surprised that it worked really well.
Have FUN (and take lots of notes!)!!

  7. I'm super jealous!! I hope you have a wonderful time and I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back... I'll be especially interested to hear about the western dressage clinic.

    1. It's by a clinician I've never heard of... I'm hoping it will be good.

  8. Sounds like a great time! Ohio is a little far for me to venture, unfortunately.

As far as "open mindedness" goes. I have found that every "trainer", "instructor", "coach" and "clinician" that I have seen has had something to offer me. Even if it was just a lesson in how not to do things!

  10. Cool outing! I am sure that you will still glean some useful information. I have never made it to an Expo, but someday I will. Ohio is ALL the way on the other side PA, so not gonna make it to that one!

Hey, I have gray streak forming in my hair near my right temple. People still think I'm a teenager, though.

    1. Mine is from vitiligo and I've had it since I was 4 or 5. I don't usually notice it anymore, but it's handy for identification purposes.

  11. I have GOT to go next year!!! Have fun! Masterson stuff is waaaay cooooool! Open mind about Parelli, lol, I'm curious. Laz and I have a (gasp) Parelli lesson coming up at the end of the month- eeks! I'm all about trying all methods out, dark side or not ;)
