Horse agility

You know I want to do this with Gwen, it's like this was made for her. If only the Horse Agility Club had a following in the States...

In other news, Coriander's frogs continue to grow and Gwen's scratches are starting to clear up. I've been using a combination of Banixx and No Thrush to treat it (which I think ends up being pretty similar to the remedy that Kate suggested: Desenex powder and Equyss spray) and the scabs have been slowly going away on their own and the cracking behind her fetlocks is closing up. Poor girl with such sensitive skin, no one else in the pasture is having this issue.

  1. SO fun. Laz and I set up a course in the arena this past summer and we hand walked thru the entire thing and then rode thru it (no jumping b/c of his laminitis) but it proved to be such fun!! It's easy to set your own course!

  2. Glad you and Laz had fun, it's probably an excellent confidence builder too. In the future, when I have a place to store the equipment, we're going to do it (or something similar).

  3. Agility rocks. I have suggested it to others around my barn. A couple of indicated interest, but I think it is something that we may get into in the summer...the arena is too crowded right now. I think Gwen would love agility.

Glad that both Coriander and Gwen are well on the road to recovery!

  4. Did you see that Equus had nice big article on thrush? Pretty interesting! I know I'm still battling it with Fabian as well, although this dry weather has helped emmensely.

I'll have to watch the video when I get home tonight, but I can already tell it looks like a LOT of fun! I think this weekend, when it gets cold, I need to outline some ground exercises to do with my two newbies to build trust and confidence. Maybe I can get some ideas here I can tone down a bit LOL!

  5. That does look like fun! I've always thought Dawn would enjoy something like that.

  6. Wolfie, I think it would be really fun to do this with a group of people and horses- you'd definitely come out of the experience with some great stories.

Jessie- yes, I saw that article. I also saw that they didn't put any of the thrush remedy in the central sulcus where the deep crack was developing (sigh). You might also want to check out the Tellington-Jones TTeam exercises for confidence building exercises. They are something else I'd like to do with Gwen.

Kate- I think Dawn would love it too!

  7. That looks like fun although that's a lot of tires. LOL the environmentalists here would have a cow.

  8. Just tell them you are being environmentally friendly because you are reusing them. They shouldn't be able to argue with that.

  9. You'd think they'd like the idea of recycling but they just don't believe it when it comes to old tires. After retrieving thousands of them from the sound they'd originally been told were being recycled, I think they've already been burned by that trick. LOL

  10. I would love to do horse agility. What a fun way for both you and your horse to get in shape! I need to find a place to make some obstacles... I think Bodhi would take to it quickly!

    What fun thanks for sharing!

  11. MiKael, some people are just never happy are they?

Golden, I think you and Bodhi have already gotten a start on this. Check out the club's website- they have competitions in the UK. We need to get some of those on our continent.
